Starting salary: $48,970.40 plus the benefit package

After 6 months and successful completion of DFD Firefighter 2 job tasks: $50,356.26 with the potential of $52,874.08 with AAS in Fire Protection degree

Full time Firefighter Job Posting

Position Title: Full time Firefighter
The Full time Firefighter must be able to perform the duties of a Firefighter. This includes operating in IDLH atmospheres and providing basic level emergency medical care and rescue services as needed.

  • NC Firefighter certification
  • NC-EMT Basic; or the ability to obtain within 12 months of hire
  • 18 years of age and reside within a 25-mile radius of Denver Fire Headquarters
  • NC Class B Classified license within 3 months of hire
  • IS 100.c, 200.c, 700.b, 703.a, 706 and 800.c prior to employment start date
  • Candidates must demonstrate through the Denver Fire Department hiring process a level of competency to perform as a Firefighter
  • Station and Apparatus upkeep and basic maintenance
  • Common and accepted functions of Fire, Rescue, and EMT
  • Incident mitigation, Incident reporting, record keeping, public relations, and fire prevention
  • Perform additional tasks assigned through their chain of command
  • Application period: The application period will open on June 19th, 2023, and close on July 21th, 2023, at 5 pm
  • Written and JRPAT Testing date: July 28th and 29th, 2022
  • This is a full-time, 24-hour shift based position

Position Title: Part-Time Firefighter
The Part Time Firefighter must be able to perform the duties of a Firefighter. This includes operating in IDLH atmospheres and providing basic level emergency medical care and rescue services as needed. $18-18.75hr depending on qualifications 

  • NC Firefighter certification
  • NC-EMT Basic; or the ability to obtain within 12 months of hire
  • 18 years of age and reside within a 25-mile radius of Denver Fire Headquarters
  • NC Class B Classified license within 3 months of hire
  • IS 100.c, 200.c, 700.b, 703.a, 706 and 800.c prior to employment start date
  • Candidates must demonstrate through the Denver Fire Department hiring process a level of competency to perform as a Career Firefighter
  • Station and Apparatus upkeep and basic maintenance
  • Common and accepted functions of Fire, Rescue, and EMT
  • Incident mitigation, Incident reporting, record keeping, public relations, and fire prevention
  • Perform additional tasks assigned through their chain of command

  • NC Office of State Fire Marshal Transcripts: Detailed Training Transcript, Summary Transcript, and Classes Remaining Transcript
  • These can be found and printed off the NCOSFM Website https://apps.ncdoi.net/f?p=305:1 • Copies of your ICS (NIMS) Certifications: 100,200,700,800, and others if you have them
  • Copies of all your Fire or Emergency Service Related Certifications (All Certifications)
  • Copy of your EMT Certification
  • Copy of your Driver’s License
